In May 2021, communications agencies Kaiku Helsinki and Cocomms decided to see what happens when relevance meets influencing, coaching takes on change communications, and service design is combined with corporate communications. The merger gives rise to an agile communications agency with 50 employees. Excluding intercompany invoicing, the net sales in 2021 of Kaiku and Cocomms amounted to approximately EUR 5.8 million.

In February 2022, the communications agency will start a new important phase, as it welcomes Pauli Aalto-Setälä to the team to build something completely new in the market.

“From our very first discussion, it was clear that Pauli Aalto-Setälä shares our values of humanity and doing meaningful work. Like us, he is fascinated by the idea of employers becoming more like platforms where experts can make progress, develop, and thrive,” says CEO Pete Saarnivaara.

“I see huge potential in this community and its culture. We will be looking to grow both domestically and internationally. After a long period of leading international groups, it is also fun to get to work with clients again,” Pauli Aalto-Setälä says.

Taking the agency to a new level requires a crystal clear vision of leadership. Pauli Aalto-Setälä’s background is perfect for this.

“Experts like Pauli are few and far between in Finland. He has garnered extensive experience in digital communications and marketing leadership as well as M&As and subsequent integrations. By combining his networks with our own, already strong connections, we can add momentum to our internationalization efforts,” says Saarnivaara.

As a coach, Pauli Aalto-Setälä will also strengthen the company management’s consulting and change management skills. He will become one of the group’s owners alongside Kimmo Kuokka, Ville Lehtovirta, Jouko Marttila, Kaija Pohjala, Pete Saarnivaara, Salla Syrman, and Markku Vänskä.

Jouko Marttila to focus on coaching and consulting

Pauli Aalto-Setälä will replace Jouko Marttila, PhD (Soc.Sc.), as the chair of the board. Marttila will continue as a partner, board member, coach, and senior communications consultant in Kaiku.

“When two companies merge, it is important to ensure that the board’s work is guided by a sufficiently external and neutral view. Pauli Aalto-Setälä has proven their skills many times over in different companies, and as the new chair will bring much-needed digital marketing and integration expertise to our company.”
